On the last weekend of June, members of our team supported the 2014 Bike MS event, hosted by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in an annual fundraiser for multiple sclerosis research. Over 3,000 riders participated in this event, riding a combined 500,000 miles and raising well over $3 million to fight this disease, which affects the body’s central nervous system.
On June 28 riders had a choice of four courses, ranging from a 68 mile route to 122 miles, known as the “Double Metric Century” (200 kilometer route). The ride started at the Front Range Community College in Westminster and ended at the Colorado State University in Fort Collins. The return ride on June 29 offered a 66 and a 77 mile option for the exhausted participants.
O.M.E.G.A.’s members have supported this event annually since 2005. This year the team covered a collective 1,000 miles of driving, supporting the ride through Adams, Boulder, Broomfield, Larimer and Weld counties and contributing in excess of 100 man hours to the two day event. We supported communications, traffic control, logistics and responded to accidents and injuries along the course.
We are proud of having completed our tenth year of affiliation with Bike MS. We will be back to support this worthwhile cause in 2015!
